  1. About 150 million people around the world want to be Americans.

  2. 80% of people worldwide say they are satisfied with the freedom in their life; 87% in the U.S. say the same.

  3. One in five Americans do not know what country the United States won its independence from.

  4. 38% of Americans in June 2018 say they are satisfied with the way things are going in the U.S. -- hitting a 12-year high.

  5. Meanwhile, a record-low 47% of Americans report being "extremely proud" to be Americans -- the first time this has dropped below a majority since 2001.

  6. Sixty-one percent of Americans can correctly name the title of the country's national anthem -- The Star-Spangled Banner.

  7. When asked, "Do you think the federal government poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of its citizens?" in 2015, roughly half of Americans believed it did; .

  8. Americans want the government to do everything possible to stop terrorism, but not to infringe on their civil liberties (65%).

  9. Most Americans think that other Americans generally respect freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

  10. Nearly nine in 10 Americans (87%) believe U.S. media have a lot of freedom, ranking the U.S. 14th out of 138 countries in 2017.
