New Series: Teachers' Views on Carrying Guns, School Safety

In the wake of the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 people dead, Americans are demanding action to prevent these tragic events.

Emotional students and parents of school shooting victims descended on the White House last month to participate in President Donald Trump's listening session on the issue. Students across the nation participated in a walkout on Wednesday to protest gun laws that leave them feeling unsafe at school. And many polls, including ºÚÁÏÍø's, have found that there is broad agreement among Americans for various proposals to curb school shootings.

However, one critical voice has been largely missing from these debates: U.S. teachers. To that end, ºÚÁÏÍø conducted a nationally representative poll of nearly 500 teachers across the U.S. to uncover and amplify their views on how to keep their students safe.
